If You Could Talk To Your Clubs, What Would You Tell Them?

The reason why I am writing this article today is to explain to all golfers what the consequence is by throwing theirs clubs in the forest, when they get angry, after missing theirs tee off. Let me tell you a story that happened last year while I was playing golf. There was a foursome ahead of us, with a guy who was very impatient. Every time we were on the green, he was ready to tee off. everything was going fine for this player until he start missing his tee off, I would say, 2 or 3 times out of 18 holes. The funny part is, that he was walking back in the forest to get his club back while swearing at the same time.

You see, this golfer only missed 3 times out of 18 holes, meaning that he had 15 good shots. So at this point, what is the morale of all this? Golfers should always count only theirs bad shots? No! Simply because, clubs don't talk and have nothing to do with your anger. Of course, if you had missed 17 times out of 18 holes, with your driver, then you should ask yourself if you have the right club for your actual swing?. But otherwise, you do have the right club. Getting angry will only increase chances to miss more shots, because you will not concentrate on your swing and hit probably faster. Period.

When you miss a shot on the tee off or on the fairway, more angrier you get, more mistakes you make. Therefore if you miss, ask yourself, where is my mistake? Is it my shoulders, my hips, my hands, the downswing? And next time, only think about this error and don't think about anything else. You know that if you correct it, you will have a perfect shot. Have you ever see a professional golfer, when he missed his shot, he always re-swing and try to figure out where he failed. This is why they are professionals. Remember, if you miss a tee off, keep you club because driving a golf ball 200 yards with your hands, is tougher than you think!

So I guess from here, lots of golfers would recognize themselves.Relax on a golf course it's only a game.

Enjoy your golf

Golf Fitness Exercises for the Amateur Golfer

With all the talk about the players on tour getting stronger and more flexible, we hear a lot about exercising for golf from television commentators and read about it in the golf publications. But what exactly are the best exercises for the amateur golfer?

A great question that has a good answer, but before we give you the answer let us provide some background so the answer makes a little more sense to you. First of all, discussing the golf swing for the time being will get us rolling.

What exactly is the golf swing? The golf swing is an athletic movement that requires using of the entire body from feet to fingertips in order to complete the swing. Realize that the golf swing is not about the club, not just about your grip, or where your head is during the swing. The golf swing is a movement that requires your entire body to move through a sequence of movements with the correct timing. To perform the athletic movement of the golf swing requires the body to begin at address, move through the actual phases of the golf swing and complete it with the follow through. In order to perform this activity with efficiency and repetitively, the body must have certain physical parameters.

These parameters, as I call them, are actual physical categories of the body that need to be developed to a certain level. These categories of the body are the platform from which the body is able to perform the athletic movement of a golf swing efficiently. The categories are probably familiar to many of you, but for the purpose of this article let us briefly run through them.

The body is required to have certain levels of flexibility, balance, endurance, strength, and power to complete a golf swing. If the body lacks in any of the above categories, then the results will be seen in the golf swing. The results are usually in the form of poor mechanics, bad shots, or poor scores on the course. So, now that we know what the connection is between the body and the swing let us address the question about the best exercises for golf.

The best Exercises for golf

Lets say you walk into your local health club and see all the fancy machines and aerobic machines at the facility to get you shape. What ones would choose? Would you choose running on the treadmill for 30 minutes, or would it be better to push out a couple sets of bench presses? Well, the answer to our question really lies within the connection between your swing and your body.

I will tell you that exercises meant to pump you up! or give you that six pack are not necessarily the correct exercises for your golf game. Neither is that weight training program you used back in high school. So, with those thoughts in mind what do you think the best exercises for golf are?

Right now we know, in general terms about the golf swing, what is required of the body for the golf swing and what exercises are not good for the swing. Armed with that knowledge we can decipher what the best exercises for golf are for you.

Beginning with flexibility, we know that the entire body must move through certain ranges of motion to perform an effective golf swing. And what happens if your body is not able to move through the required ranges of motion of the golf swing? The answer: the golf swing will mechanically suffer resulting in shots that are less than optimal. So part of the exercises that are good for golfers are flexibility exercises and, even more so, flexibility exercises that work the muscles used in the golf swing through the movements involved in the golf swing. So first and foremost flexibility exercises should be on the top of your list.

The second category of exercises that would be conducive to the golf swing would have to do with balance. We hear about balance in reference to the golf swing all the time. Stay balanced through the swing; transfer your weight to maintain balance during the swing But what does balance exactly mean? Balance is the ability to control your body through a specific movement pattern. The movement pattern we are discussing just happens to be the golf swing. We know the importance of balance in relation to the golf swing, so how do we train our body for better balance in the golf swing? Before we answer that question we need to know a little more about balance. Balance in relation to the body has to do with the connection between your nerves and muscles. Essentially your nervous system, as a result of messages sent from your brain, tells your muscles how to move to maintain the bodys balance. The more efficient your nerves and muscles are to these messages the greater balance abilities the body develops. So balance exercises train both the nervous system and muscular system to become more efficient at this function. Summing it all up, balance is the second category of exercises that will assist your golf game.

The third category of exercises that are beneficial to golf have to do with your muscles. The golf swing requires the muscles of your body to move through a specific range of motion (flexibility) and help with your balance capacities. In order to perform these actions and others, your body needs certain levels of strength and endurance. The definition of strength is the ability of the muscles to exert force for the given athletic action (simplified definition but a good working definition for us). Endurance is the ability of your muscles to do the same activity over and over again for a specific amount of time.

First off, let us discuss strength. The golf swing has one intention of developing club head speed while maintaining balance through the swing. The muscles in your body must have enough strength in them to do both. Now, when we discuss building strength for the golf swing it is NOT the type of strength needed to bench press 250 lbs. Or squat 500! It is strength geared towards the improvement of your swing. I refer to this type of strength as golf strength. So when you get to the gym, performing strength exercises like bench press will not help your swing. Exercises that train the body in the positions and through the movements of the golf swing will help your swing.

In addition to strength, we need to develop endurance in your muscles. Think of how many swings you may take over the course of 18 holes. In order for you to be able to swing the club the same way on the 18th hole as you did on the 1st hole. Your body has to have high levels of endurance. This will allow your body to perform the golf swing without getting tired. You develop endurance similar to how you develop golf strength. Utilize exercises that train the body in the positions and through the movements of the golf swing. Lighter loads with higher repetitions will be used for these exercises. The end result will be the development of golf endurance.

The final segment of exercises beneficial to your golf swing is power training. Power training is geared towards the ability of your body to generate high levels of club head speed. Power development by the body is what allows for greater distance on your shots. Clubs help, golf balls help, but it really comes down to the piece of machinery, your body, swinging those club and hitting those golf balls. Development of power for the golf swing is very similar to the development of golf strength and endurance. It is the utilization of exercises that place your body in the positions and move you through movements similar to the golf swing.

Summary

So there you have it, the answer to the types of exercises best for the improvement of your golf swing. I think you now realize it is not one exercise, but a group of exercises that incorporate flexibility, balance, endurance, strength, and power. A combination of these exercises is what will enhance your golf swing.

How Juice Dieting Can Help You Lose Weight

Let's do juicing! Just the mention of juicing and one conjures up visions of celebrity super bodies relaxing around the LA pool, soaking in the sun and sipping some colourful concoction through elegant, sometimes flashy straws.

Well however you prefer yours, I've got no problem, but juicing is here to stay - thankfully, at long last, it's taken its rightful place on the podium with the kings and queens of dieting.

There are many wonderful benefits to juice dieting. To be frank, it's the simplest, most convenient road into the invigorating lifestyle associated with a healthy, vibrant body. Your body belongs to you and its up to you to take control of its well being. We've been led along the path to ill health and sickness long enough and the giants of the food and drink conglomerates have only been too willing to take us there.

What to Expect From Your Juice diet
At the outset, juice diets are not to be mistaken for any other liquid diet. A diet based on fruit and vegetable juices is quit unlike a regular liquid diet. When you undertake a course of juice dieting your intake is set around consuming about 8 tall glasses, each of 12 ounces, of specially formulated juice per day. The super packed foods, which you will consume, are not the odd bottle of shop bought Tropicana from the local gas station on the way from a hard day at work.

Special formula Juice diet
For the juice diet to be successful you need to drink the expressly formulated juices which are obtainable online and in health food stores. These drinks are designed with the added vitamins and minerals your body needs in larger amounts than would be achievable with fresh fruit juices alone.

Once you embark on a correct fruit and vegetable diet you'll be amazed at just how you begin to feel. That feeling of wellness extends to greater levels of energy and a sense of complete vigour and this is a feeling that great many people have never before experienced, especially as you consider the act that the average diet consists of junk food that we have been fed since childhood.

Fresh fruit juices are, quite simply packed to the brim with minerals and essential vitamins, enzymes and photo nutrients, all waiting to find a resting place in your body. From the day you begin a serious fruit juice diet you need no longer think about measuring your recommended daily allowance of bottled vitamins and minerals. In fact you can cross these off your shopping list, thereby saving you money and time.

Rapid Results from a Fruit diet
In most cases your body will be able to tell the difference in just two short days. That's all that's needed to begin to feel a new person, even after decades of neglect.

Convenience
Don't forget the convenience factor - you can put away your pots and pans and just pull out that juice extractor and get juicing for a new you.

Juicing is the natural way to revitalise your body and I'm ever more convinced of this fact. Over the years family, friends, associates and colleges have all testified to the fact that they now feel years younger, more vitalised and energised than ever before. simply put, juicing is the most natural, convenient and delicious way of restoring the years the locust has eaten.

I wish you every blessing as you seek health and restoration, as you seek to take the initiative and live life to the full.

Ergonomics and Modern Workspace Design

At the end of the nineteenth century, Frederick Winslow Taylor went to work at Bethlehem Steel. Upon observing the workers shoveling coal, Taylor had an idea. He assigned each worker a shovel that was of a size and weight ideally suited to the worker's own body structure. With the new shovels, the workers became triply effective, Bethlehem Steel was able to reduce its cost by half, and get the same amount of work out of 140 employees that it once got out of 400.

Today, few businesses need concern themselves with optimizing their employees' coal-shoveling potentialities, but workers are breaking their backs at a whole new kind of grind, spending up to fourteen hours a day at a desk in front of a computer. That is why ergonomics, the study and integration of human well-being principles into systems designs, has become an integral part of the creation of modern workspaces.

There are several areas of ergonomics to consider when designing or redesigning an office space. Arguably the most important of these is the physical aspect. The average worker pushes his or her body to the limit every day simply by sitting in a chair, motionless save for fingers flashing over the keyboard, and hands and arms controlling the mouse.

It doesn't seem like a punishing physical task, but according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSIs), such as Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, are the single fastest-growing work-related illness, costing businesses as much as 30 billion dollars a year, and all due to just sitting at a desk typing.

Physical ergonomics, then, is concerned with office tools and supplies geared towards allowing people to work efficiently, productively, and painlessly. The major product issues in this category surround chairs, keyboards, and mice. There are many of these type of 'ergonomic' products on the market, but experts say that virtually none of these actually do the job right..

A huge demand for ergonomic office furniture and supplies has led to an unfortunate wave of products being advertised as 'ergonomic,' when they are anything but. At this point, there is absolutely no system in place regulating what can or cannot be marketed as such, so it's wise to shop around. Ergonomists suggest that businesses consult - surprise, surprise - ergonomists, before overhauling a work environment.

However, without resorting to a process of drastic remodeling, employers can vastly improve physical ergonomics by providing free classes in which workers can learn to use their own bodies ergonomically. After all, you can have the best office chair in the world, but if you don't know how to sit in it, you will always be uncomfortable. Classes in the Alexander Technique, Tai Chi, and yoga can do huge things for physical health in the workplace, and lead to a reduction in work-related injuries, which in turn shrinks the cost to businesses of paying out for sick days and sick workers.

Another crucial area of ergonomics is engineering psychology, or cognitive ergonomics. This area is born out of the philosophy that a happy worker is a productive worker, and to be happy, a worker has to not dread going in to the office every day. Cluttered, messy, overwhelming, or generally unpleasant workstations are the cause of this ennui for more than 50% of all office employees in the US, according to a recent logitech survey.

The word of the day in ergonomic workspace design is to say goodbye to those cubicles! In practice, open, dynamic work areas are proving to be hotbeds of employee creativity and productivity. It is true that privacy is often cited as a workplace must-have, but the benefits of a spatially unrestricted environment in which workers are able to easily collaborate, communicate, and problem-solve are far greater.

A 'war room' style workspace, or what is called 'radical collocation' is gaining in popularity amongst fast-growing IT businesses. This environment normally involves a large, open space with tables around the center for collaborative work, and more enclosed spaces around the edge of the room for solo projects and private conferences.

Ideally, these workspaces will be furnished as dynamically as possible, with lightweight, easily movable furniture that can be regularly reconfigured to meet the needs of the day. Studies show that employees who are given the opportunity to contribute to the shaping of their work environment demonstrate high levels of commitment to their jobs, which translates into increased productivity, low turnover rates, fewer sick days, and even increased neatness and conscientious behavior.

This sort of open, flexible environment also provides ample opportunity for workers to move around, which has both cognitive and physical ergonomic benefits. Staying in the same position, at the same desk, day after day, is not conducive in allowing human beings to function at their best.

Rather than assigning desks, ergonomic workspace design involves employees being able to move freely from workstation to workstation, library to hot desk to breakout room, depending on what they need to do. This strategy works best in a wireless environment, and overall leads to reduced clutter, increased creativity and job commitment, and better employee health.

For a new business, beginning ergonomically is a must. It is an investment in cutting future costs by ensuring the on-site well-being of employees. When starting from scratch, ergonomic design can actually be cheaper than creating a conventional office environment, because it eliminates many of the expensive borders and limitations - everything from walls to wiring - that so many drab, gray, airless office spaces labor under.

For an established business, coming around to ergonomics can prove to be a great expense, and with so many products and services out there pushing themselves as the ergo-solution of the day, it can be hard not to go over-budget. However, the time of the isolated, burnt-out cubicle employee is drawing to a close, and to compete with the satisfied, energized workers found in modern office spaces, traditional businesses are going to have to come around eventually.

In the end, it's just a matter of identifying the point at which the costs of dealing with unhappy, uncomfortable workers begins to be outweighed by the benefits of making the change in favor of better quality work, lower absenteeism, consistently met deadlines, and fewer errors. Yes, the transition to ergonomic workspace design can be expensive, but ultimately, it could save your business.
